The peace of God which we celebrate at Christmas is about more than absence of conflict; it is about wholeness. Jesus comes into the world and gives himself for us so that we could be made whole again.
The Gifts of Christmas
The season of advent is often characterized as a time of waiting for the arrival of the Messiah, a tradition we carry on in the church as we await the return of Jesus. However, by pairing passages in the Christmas story with selections for the book of Romans, we can also note God’s gifts of Christmas which are already received even as we wait for Jesus, the greatest gift of all.
